On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, Ohio Galaxies FC recognized our graduating seniors and their families at our Senior Picnic on the campus at Athletes in Action (see photos below).   Neil Daniels and Tom Robey spoke on behalf of OGFC in summarizing the soccer accomplishments of the players of the class of 2011.  A number of players will be continuning to play soccer in college.  To see a complete list of the graduating seniors and their plans, please click here.

This year, the picnic included the awarding of the first Vincent J. Kohen Memorial Scholarships to two graduating OGFC players.  We were pleased to have Brian Kohen on hand to award the scholarships in the memory of his dad, Vince Kohen.   Vince Kohen started the Centerville Galaxies program in 1974 and was instrumental in the development of club soccer in the Dayton area throughout his lifetime.  Vince's work rate, dilligence and commitment to youth soccer formed the backbone for the criteria used to select the winners of the scholarship competition.  We are pleased to recognize Lauren Mershad and Mack Crawford as the winners of the 2011 Vincent J. Kohen Memorial Scholarships.   Lauren plans to attend Penn State University and Mack will pursuing his education at Bowling Green State University.  

OGFC extends a special thank you to the Scholarship committee members, Ann Weiskircher, Claudia Argryis, Phil Depp, Susan Link and Sylvia Kellner.

The Ohio Galaxies FC organization is proud of the accomplishments of all these young men and women and wish them the best as they embark on their next journey.
